Kaesler Old Bastard Shiraz is a powerhouse expression from the Barossa Valley, crafted from ancient, low-yielding vines that deliver extraordinary concentration and complexity. On the nose, it opens with an opulent cascade of dark fruits — blackberry compote, plum preserve, and crushed blueberries — layered with seductive notes of dark chocolate, mocha, and a whisper of violets. The oak influence is seamlessly integrated, offering vanilla bean and cedar spice without overwhelming the fruit. On the palate, this wine is commanding yet refined, with a velvety, full-bodied presence that coats every corner of the mouth. Flavours of black cherry, roasted plum, and dark berry jam are underpinned by savoury notes of cracked black pepper, smoked meat, and licorice root — hallmarks of great Barossa Shiraz.
