Mt Difficulty's Bannockburn Dry Riesling is a beautifully precise expression of Central Otago Riesling, shaped by the schist-laden soils and dramatic diurnal temperature swings of the Bannockburn sub-region. On the nose, it opens with lifted aromas of fresh lime zest, white peach, and crushed green apple, underpinned by a telltale streak of wet slate and a whisper of jasmine blossom. The palate is taut and focused, delivering vibrant citrus acidity that carries flavours of lemon curd, nectarine, and preserved lime alongside a mineral, almost steely backbone. There is an appealing tension between the wine's fruit generosity and its bone-dry structure, giving it a sense of energy and precision that is distinctly cool-climate in character. The finish is long, clean, and saline, with lingering citrus pith and a chalky minerality that invites another sip.
